Date: Thu, 6 Feb 1997 16:38:31 -0600 From: Doug Cameron To: Multiple recipients of list MADNESS Texas, in 1993, (1) totally eliminated the two and three doctor rule with regard to shock, (2) emergency clauses were totally eliminated regarding shock in Texas, (3) there is no partial incompetency regarding shock in Texas, (4) and even though a person globally adjudicated incompetent can be shocked against their will, new laws make this impossible if the individual has an advance directive (directions regarding treatment in case of incompetency) or if that person's wishes were or are known. Texas totally banned electroshocking anyone under the age of consent (sixteen) in Texas. In addition, Texas has the additional provison that all persons not globally adjudicated incompetent must sign before each indivdiual procedure, not merely before a series, and can withdraw at any time with only an oral expression.
