SYMBOLS OF PSYCHIATRIC PRIDE IN HONOUR OF NAZI VICTIMS Annie Goslyn Fifty years ago, each group killed in Nazi Germany was forced to wear a badge, such as the yellow triangles in the shape of a star of David for the Jews, pink triangles for homosexual men, black triangles for lesbians, gypsies and criminals and the little known badge of the psychiatrically labelled. The mentally ill were the first group to be killed. The badge sewn onto their concentration camp clothing was an inverted black triangle with a yellow triangle over the top of it. In memory of the 275,000 killed, badges have been made. They are available from: The Flemish Survivors' Movement Gitschotellel 236-5 2140 Borgerhout Antwerp BELGIUM Quoted from _Progress_, Newsletter of ANOPS (the Aotearoa Network of Psychiatric Survivors), PO Box 46-108, Herne Bay, Auckland, New Zealand.
