Bipolar I - major depression and mania

Bipolar II - major depression and hypomania

Bipolar III - mild depression and hypomania (cyclothymia)

Bipolar IV - depression and usually no mania (but
antidepressants can trigger mania)

Bipolar V - depression and no mania but mania in blood
relatives (use medication that works for the relatives)

Bipolar VI - mania and no depression - rare
