I think that Soros or a staff member of the Open Society Institute might
support the idea of an open society for mental patients and ex-patients and
might want to create or help create a network in hospitals, day treatment
programs, consumer-run associations, etc.  I have a client now who's a
biomedical ethics professor in Wisconsin who's interested in creating a
national discussion on end-of-life education, e.g., living wills, palliative
care, etc. He got in touch with Soros, because he gave lots of money in that
area a few years ago.  Nothing came of it, so far at least, but he found the
staff helpful and receptive.
