Just type irc at the unix prompt and most likely you'll find yourself in irc. Once you are in irc you need to pick a nickname. My nickname is SomeOne_ To register my nickname this is what I'd do: /nick SomeOne_ Some times the default server is too full and you can't get on it. If that happens you'll need to use the /server command. If you can't connect with your server you would type: /server mickey.cc.utexas.edu (one server) Here is a short list of other servers: irc.ais.net irc.escape.com irc.texas.net (only if you're on the texas.net) copper.ucs.indiana.edu irc.ecn.uoknor.edu The next thing you need to do is to log on to the channel. In our case the channel is madness and the key is freedom. To get on our channel you would type: /join #madness freedom Then you'll be on our channel. After that you just type. When you want to talk you just type and hit enter. You use / when you want to give a command. Another command you need to know about is msg. If you're having problems send me a msg. This is how you do that: /msg SomeOne_ type your message Then I'll msg you back. Finally you need to know how to get out. To get out you type: /bye Hope to see you on channel madness!
